July 5: Enjoy the sounds of Africa

Southlake Library is hosting an event featuring music and dance from different parts of Africa. The event also emphasizes the use of music as a means of communication. Participants will be able to make a handmade instrument. 2 p.m.-3 p.m. Free. 1400 Main Street, Southlake. 817-748-8242.

July 9: Dance to music

From July 9 to August 20: visit of the Quanah Parker exhibition at the town hall

A photo exhibit of Quanah Parker’s “One Man, Two Worlds” will be on display in the lobby of Southlake Town Hall. Organized by the Southlake Historical Society, the exhibit includes photos of Cynthia Ann Parker and her Comanche son Quanah. A reception will be held from 4-6 p.m. July 24 at City Hall and will feature Quanah’s great-great-grandson, Lance Tahmahkera, who will share stories. July 13 to December 28: Ride a Bike, Have a Beer

Cyclists gather every Wednesday evening to explore some of the Grapevine trails on this social ride hosted by Hop & Sting Brewing Company. After the ride, participants will return to the brewery for a beer. A portion of draft beer sales are donated to local cycling groups Grapevine Chain Gang Group Ride and Mad Duck Racing. 6:00 p.m. Free (entry). Hop & Sting Brewing Company, 906 John St., Grapevine.

July 21: see a magic show

John O’Bryant’s “Reading Magic Show” stops at the Colleyville Library. O’Bryant, a comedic magician, encourages students to read as his shows incorporate illusions, music, storytelling, props and giveaways. July 23: See a Neil Diamond tribute concert

Rob Garrett, who won Male Musical Tribute Artist of the Year in Las Vegas in 2008, performs a Neil Diamond tribute show at the Palace Arts Center. Known as the “King of Diamonds”, Garrett has performed internationally. 3 p.m., 7:30 p.m. $18. 300 Main St., Grapevine.

July 29: Discover the MasterWorks concert series

The latest event in the Southlake MasterWorks Concert Series features country music group Empty Pockets and is hosted by Southlake Library. Presented by the Town of Southlake and the Arts Council Northeast, this event invites music lovers of all ages to attend the show. July 30: Watch a Dallas Legion game

The professional ultimate frisbee teams, the Dallas Legion and the Tampa Bay Cannons, will face off at Colleyville Middle School in the Dallas Legion’s final regular season home game. The Dallas Legion is part of the American Ultimate Disc League, competing in the South Division. 7 to 9 p.m. $15 (general admission), $10 (ages 10 to 17), free (ages 12 and under). 1100 Bogart Drive, Colleyville.

August 4: painting on wine glasses

Landon Winery-Grapevine hosts a monthly wine glass painting class event. August’s design is “Cutie Pie Cacti”. During the two-hour class, participants paint two wine glasses with guidance from a Le Painted Grape instructor. Wine and food are available for purchase. 6:30 p.m. $25 per person. 415 S. August 5: Discover life on the farm
